A new series is to premiere on Netflix on March 30th: It is called “Rapture”, featuring some of the relevant artists in hip hop in the United States.

The trailer gives us an idea of what to expect from the series.  “Hip hop is about being truthful”, says rapper Nas, one of the most famous artists featured on the show. Born in 1973, Nasir Bin Olu Dara Jones, his real name, is also a record producer, actor and entrepreneur.

But there are other performers in the eight-episode project airing next week. One of them is G-easy, or simply Gerald Earl Gillum, also a rapper and record producer. He not only tells us what hip hop means to him, but also celebrates his latest album, “The beautiful & damned”.

Other voices also appear in  “Rapture”, such as Just Blaze, who off stage goes by Justin Smith. He is an American hip hop record producer from New Jersey, who dropped out of university to pursue his musical career. He is best known for producing Jay-Z songs on the albums “The Blueprint”, “The Blueprint 2”, and “The Black Album”.

One of the female representatives in the documentary is the singer Rapsody, stage name for Marianna Evans, who released her latest album, “Laila`s wisdom”, in December. According to urban music magazine “XXL”, Rapsody’s recent work “tells the story of every woman”. In the trailer for “Rapture”, she says: “These words are powerful”.

By the way, the word “rapture” conveys “an expression or manifestation of ecstasy or passion”. And that is what music is all about, right?
