Choose the English exam according to your goals.

You need to choose the right English-language test to reach a specific goal. TOEIC is focused on the corporate world, and TOEFL is for the academic world. If you have any doubts, talk to the director of the closest BRASAS school. We’ll be glad to help you out.

Set a date for the exam

When setting a date for the exam, take into account the amount of time you will need to go over the English topics. Then, create a study plan. Organize a schedule with the most important topics and write down your doubts.

Widen your vocabulary range

Having a wide range of vocabulary helps you take the exam calmly and confidently. So, pay attention to this topic. Study regularly the words you are familiar with and try to learn new terms and sentences through books and websites. BRASAS intermediate and advanced books are great sources to go over idioms, phrasal verbs, idiomatic expressions and all the vocab you need to take an excellent test.

4.Keep an eye on grammar

Certificate exams are technical. So, your grammar should be impeccable. Add to your schedule some review of verb tenses, prefixes, suffixes, conjunctions, noun groups and phrasal verbs. Go for podcasts

When hitting the books, podcasts in English are of great help. After all, they can help you out with your listening comprehension skills, widen your vocabulary range and contribute to your fluency.

Take mock exams

TOEIC, TOEFL ITP and TOEFL JR mock exams are specific and excellent study tools because they help you get familiar with the general structure of the exam and the amount of time it takes. Not to mention the fact that mock tests will allow you to test your knowledge. Write down what you may consider more difficult for further review.

Have fun

In order to make your studies more interesting, train for the exam by seeing movies and watching series without subtitles, of course. You should also listen to songs in English, paying attention to the lyrics, and take some time to read a book in English.

Defina a data do exame

Na hora de marcar sua prova, pense no tempo que você precisa para revisar a matéria. Depois de definir a data, faça um plano de estudos: organize um cronograma com os assuntos mais importantes e anote os temas que você tem mais dúvida.

Amplie o seu vocabulário

Ter um vasto vocabulário ajuda muito para realizar a prova com mais segurança e calma. Por isso, dê uma atenção especial a esse tópico. Estude regularmente as palavras que você já domina e busque aprender novos termos e sentenças através de livros e sites. Na hora de estudar, um grande aliado são os podcasts em inglês. Afinal, eles ajudam a treinar seu o entendimento auditivo, aumentam seu vocabulário e ainda contribuem com a fluência e domínio da língua.

Faça simulados

Os simulados do TOEIC, TOEFL ITP e TOEFL JR são específicos e excelentes ferramentas de estudo, pois te ajudam a se familiarizar com a linguagem e duração do exame, além de testar seus conhecimentos. Anote as principais dificuldades que você teve no processo para depois estudá-las com mais atenção.

Para que o estudo fique mais interessante, treine para o exame assistindo a filmes e séries, mas sem legendas, claro. Além disso, escute músicas prestando atenção nas letras e aproveite para ler um livro em inglês.
