Halloween is one of the most traditional celebrations in the US. Not only do kids go trick-or-treating, but there are also themed festivities taking place in many cities throughout the country that are almost as famous as Carnival in Brazil.
We have picked the best destinations and parties so you can plan your next Halloween. Check them out!
Nova Orleans, Louisiana
Not only is New Orleans considered the capital of jazz, but the city is also known for its Voodoo, and therefore it’s one of the most popular destinations at Halloween. Haunted houses and the Saint Louis Cemetery, one of the oldest graveyards in the city, are the most taken tours. At Halloween, two festivals are held in the city: Scream Park and the Voodoo Music Festival.
Salem, Massachusetts
Also known as the Witch City, Salem is full of spooky tourist spots all year round, such as the Ghostbusted play, at the Haunted Dinner Theater, the House of the Seven Gables and the Corwin House. However, at Halloween, tourists not only get some special discounts, but they can also attend the Annual Psychic Fair and the Witchcraft Expo.
Orlando, Florida
Orlando is a must for Disney villains lovers at Halloween. Some special attractions, with decorations, and Halloween-themed parades are put up at Disney, Universal and Sea World. One of the main attractions is the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, with the Boo-to-You parade, parties and some scary fireworks, and Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, a show with all the villains from your favorite Disney movies.
New York
Get a costume to go to the Village Halloween Parade, which is part of an annual NYC tradition. The event is one of the largest Halloween parties in the city, with huge puppets, bands, artists and dancers. There are over one hundred thousand costumed participants, not to mention the millions of spectators.
Laconia, New Hampshire
It’s impossible not to associate Halloween with Jack-o’Lanterns and pumpkins, right? At the New Hampshire Pumpkin Festival, its taken very seriously and pumpkins are used in practically everything: sculptures, vehicles, parades and even races.
Chicago, Illinois
Just like in NYC, there’s a special Halloween parade in Chicago. It’s the Northalsted Halloween Parade, which celebrates its twenty-third anniversary in 2019. The Haunted Halloween Ball Party is another super fun attraction. It takes place at the Congress Plaza Hotel, which is considered by the USA Today one of the world’s most haunted hotels. Scary!
Hollywood, California
Get ready for Halloween Horror Nights at the Universal Studios theme park. There are many mazes at the park inspired by famous horror productions such as Saw, The Shining and the series Stranger Things and American Horror Story. That’s really spine tingling!

Durante o Halloween a cidade também organiza dois festivais, o Scream Park e o Voodoo Music Festival.
